Distribution: Oceanic, planktonic, benthic, neritic, worldwide.
Interesting Facts: Some species produce okadaic acid and dinophysistoxins, which cause diarrhetic shellfish poisoning. Dynophysis is synomous with Phalacroma rotundatum.
Common Species: D. acuminata, D. fortii, D. tripos, and Dinophysis.
